INVESTMENT

Therapy is more than just a financial investment. It is an investment in yourself. It can be overwhelming to find time to take care of yourself and prioritize your needs. All of us find ways to make our money work for us, to support our lives and make time for the people and activities we enjoy. You might be someone who uses a cleaning service, a yard service, a house manager, childcare, or something else to give you peace of mind. Therapy is also one of those supports. It is an investment in yourself so you don’t have to feel stressed or overwhelmed. It is a way of caring for your overall well-being so you can enjoy yourself and time with friends or your family.

Understanding your investment in therapy is important to know before you decide to schedule an appointment. I am an out of network provider. This means that I do not accept insurance or EAP plans and my appointments are private pay. There are advantages to being a private pay therapist, one being the ability to determine what your needs are without the limits insurance policies may place on your treatment. Another advantage is the confidence of complete privacy related to our professional relationships and the issues that brought you to schedule. All records related to our professional relationship remain strictly confidential and cannot be shared with any person or entity without your expressed, written consent. This means therapy is accessible when “life is complicated,” rather than a clinical diagnosis meant to justify your appointments with insurance. And if we find a diagnosis or more clinical symptoms, and that information is also held in confidence and protected in the same way.

Some of my clients do choose to seek reimbursement through their insurance for out of network benefits. In this case, a diagnosis is required and you would share that when you submit any claims to your insurance for reimbursement. I offer the documentation needed in order to submit your own claims. Seeking reimbursement from insurance for out of network services can vary based on your plan and is not guaranteed. If you are considering using out of network benefits, please contact your insurance to learn more about your out of network benefits and what reimbursement may be for you.

Appointment Fees

Initial Appointment 75 minutes $165

Individual Session 50 minutes $150*

Individual Session 80 minutes $225

*I offer a limited number of reduced rate spots for individuals who may be unable to manage my fees. If you are interested in learning more about availability for these spots, please reach out and I am happy to share more about them. I also recognize there are events that happen that are out of your control and finances may be affected. Please let me know so you and I can find a way for you to continue to receive support while coping with these kinds of events. I value the ability to have an open and safe conversation about the cost of services and your needs.

I do have fees associated requests outside of the therapy session which include requests for letters, documentation, or forms that support you and your needs. Those costs are listed in my financial policy and are prorated from my hourly rate. Costs outside of session are often related to coordination of care with another provider or institution, phone calls with other professionals or other parties invested in your care and wellbeing. Any costs outside of your therapy appointments will be part of an open conversation and will not be charged without your prior knowledge or consent.

Good Faith Estimate

You may obtain a good faith estimate of our charges upon request prior to scheduling with me.

The No Surprises Act is a federal law which provides you with the right to a good faith estimate of the cost of services at our practice.  However, Ohio licensing board rules require me to provide you with the actual cost of my charges in a written informed consent form to which you must agree prior to my providing services.  That will be available to you prior to you being seen for services and prior to any billing.  In most cases it is impossible to estimate how many sessions you will need, and that will not be determined until your concerns are evaluated and will also vary based on the progress that you make, which depends in part on your efforts with the process.  You will be free to discontinue services at any time or the services may otherwise be terminated in accordance with the informed consent form language.

Although the No Surprises Law says that you may initiate a dispute process if the actual charges are substantially in excess of the Good Faith Estimated charges, i.e. if you are charged $400 more than the estimated cost for a session or for the total estimate provided, that is unlikely to happen and would be a violation of licensing board rules, since you will be agreeing up front to actual charges per session prior to being seen.  Dispute information is available upon request, however any changes to my fees will require a change in the informed consent form fees, which you must agree to prior to having them go into effect, otherwise the fees will remain in effect for 12 months.
